Jeffrey Sachs (again)

Jeffrey Sachs is featured in I Am Because We Are, the documentary about the crisis of orphans and AIDS in Malawi, which Madonna wrote and executive produced (to see a clip of Sachs’ interview in the film, click here and follow links to Sachs’ page); it premiered last Thursday at the Tribeca Film Festival. Dr. Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia and a special UN ambassador, also spoke at a Gucci-sponsored, star-studded benefit for Malawi and Unicef.

During Sachs' visit to New York, a reporter asked why the UN Development Fund gave more money to Latin American than Africa; Sachs declined to reply, and one blogger wonders why.

As for Sachs' performance in the film, Fox News’ Roger Friedman is not impressed, calling him a "Harvard celebrity sycophant" who Madonna uses to help endorse her "Kabbalah propaganda."
