According to the Catholic League, as posted on National Review Online, it was a surprise to hear Lou Dobbs's reverence for Pope Benedict XVI. "I like Pope Benedict XVI, is what [the conversation] just taught me here ... " Dobbs said on CNN last night.
But the Wall Street Journal still won't cut Dobbs any slack for his recent comments about the Pope "insulting our country," referring to the anchor as a "Tancredo-like compulsive," and quoting him stating, "I really don't appreciate the bad manners of a guest telling me in this country and my fellow citizens what to do."
Investor's Business Daily also questions whether CNN can tolerate "bigotry in populist clothing," quoting Dobbs' description of the Pope as "absolutely repugnant."
