In the spirit of Earth Day 2008, all eyes turn to climate change awareness evangelist Al Gore. In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the former vice president expressed his continuing devotion to rectifying the “climate crisis;” bemoaned the public’s failure to prioritize climate issues over, for example, “clearing up dog mess;” and recognized that not only has global warming failed to slow since the 2006 release of An Inconvenient Truth, “the situation has got[ten] worse.” Gore also characterized George W. Bush as the worst possible opponent of environmental issues, claiming that he is “actively working AGAINST the cause.” Finally, Gore said that he would be interested in continuing his activism by filming a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth.
FOX News’ Pop Tarts blog drew attention to PETA’s campaign, offsetalgore.com, that seeks to highlight the ecological impact of Al Gore’s meat-heavy diet. FOX News asks, “is our steak-lovin' 'Earth Day' man a hypocrite?”
A blogger at Skeptics Global Warming wonders at the fact that Al Gore considers himself the leader of a “grassroots effort”, considering his considerable bankroll.
Al Gore recently presented a brand-new slideshow, that premiered exclusively on TED.com.
