In the midst of chaotic Pakistan's emergency rule, Benazir Bhutto has announced her party will stage a massive demonstration at the end of this week, followed by a protest march next week, if Musharaff does not end the emergency rule. Her statements were followed by a violent clash between Pakistani police and Bhutto supporters.

Yesterday, Bloomberg apologized for the remarks that angered many and set off a controversy over the James Zadroga 9/11 case. While accepting an award from Harvard's School of Public Health, Bloomberg stated that deceased NY detective James Zadroga was not a hero, which quickly brought a demand for an apology from Zadroga's family.

Frank Gehry is widely known for his unsually shaped architecture, but MIT thinks the flaws in their Gehry-designed Stata Center are not artistic. The school has slapped him with a lawsuit that alleges Gehry provided "deficient design services and drawings."

After Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize win for his environmental activism, the press and the public has showered him with praise and reports of organizations trying to raise money for a Gore presidential bid. Although there was significant hope, based on Romney's Harvard MBA, that he would become another corporate-friendly Republican when elected in Massachusetts in 2002, his term ended with him having raised the tax bill on businesses by $300 million. The former Governor and current presidential hopeful has a different account of his term - he says he never raised taxes, but merely closed loopholes in the tax code.

Mayor Bloomberg has announced he is seriously considering the proposal by Harvard economist Roland Fryer to give free cell phones to NYC students, and to reward good academic performances with free service. According to Bloomberg, even if this plan is implemented, the ban on cell phones in schools will still remain in effect.

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has stated he will "engage in aggressive diplomacy" with Iran if elected. Obama has said that Iran is acting irresponsibly and their nuclear weapons program and support for terrorist activities is a serious cause for concern.
