Joined the Rockefeller Institute in 1941 and became a professor there in 1955; served as a lieutenant commander with the Naval Medical Research Unit at the Rockefeller Institute’s hospital in World War II.
Degrees: B.A. from Stanford, 1934; M.D. from Harvard Medical School, 1939.
Death: August 1, 2006, in Manhattan.
