Henry Hewes, 89

Professions: Theater critic for The Saturday Review since 1951, chief critic from 1955 to 1973; founder of the American Theater Critics Association; former president of the New York Drama Critics Circle and the Drama Desk; editor of Best Plays anthologies from 1960 to 1964; elected to the Theater Hall of Fame in 2002.

Degrees: Harvard College, class of 1939; graduated from Columbia University in 1949.

Death: July 18, 2006, at his home in Manhattan.
