Joseph L. Popp, 56

Professions: Evolutionary anthropologist and owner of Man and Nature Press; spent fifteen years living in eastern Africa, where he studied hamadryas baboons, wrote, published, and met his wife.

Degrees: B.S. ’72, Ohio State University; Ph.D. ’79, Harvard University.

Passions: At the time of his death, he was in the process of converting part of his home into a tropical butterfly conservatory open to the public.

Death: June 27, 2006, in Onenota, New York.
