Car mechanic and photographer, milkman and Harvard graduate, avid hiker and lover of nature, William S. Campbell was many things in his long life. The Morning Sentinel notes that he also worked in retail and in the family telephone answering business. But Campbell will perhaps be remembered most for his ceaseless involvement in the arts and culture of his community. He founded a local film society and worked with local libraries, art centers, and the Damariscotta River conservation association.
He died April 30 in Waldoboro, Maine.
