Sergio Dolfi, 85; Retired Coca-Cola Executive, Sculptor

A career of more than 40 years with the Coca-Cola Company took Italian-born Sergio Dolfi to cities around the world, and allowed him to collect the exotic woods that fed his passion for sculpting. A modest notice in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution notes that after Dolfi earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Florence, he remained there and worked for the Legal Office of the Allied Military Government from 1944 to 1946. Dolfi then moved to New York, where he embarked on a career with Coca-Cola, serving in Milan, Rome, London and Atlanta, where he eventually settled in the 1970s. Dolfi also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1968.

A self-taught artist who moved from wood carvings into bronze castings to reach a wider audience, Dolfi’s abstract artwork developed a significant following. The Journal-Constitution notes that his work can be found in numerous public and private collections throughout the U.S., including the Atlanta Bontanical Garden, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Coca-Cola Company. He had also made donations of his work to the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia-Atlanta, and had held numerous international solo exhibitions.

Dolfi died unexpectedly on May 1 at his residence in Atlanta.
