Fred Jaquith, 85; Rhode Island Businessman

Fred Jaquith, an insurance executive who had fought with the Army Signal Corps in World War II, died in early April, according to the death notice in the Providence Journal. Jaquith was born in Boston, lived in Warwick, graduated cum laude from Boston College in 1941, and received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1947. He fought several battles in the Pacific theater during the war, and was a member of the occupations troops in Seoul, South Korea.

Returning to America, he became vice president and a member of the board of directors of Providence Washington Insurance Company before retiring in 1980. After he retired, he taught as an adjunct professor at Bryant College Graduate School.

His numerous civic commitments included being president of the Family Service of Rhode Island, an officer of Adoption Rhode Island and a board member of Junior Achievement Rhode Island.
