Albert M. Chandler, 87

Professions: Joined the Massachusetts National Guard, Yankee Division, in 1939; served as an intelligence officer in the 494th Field Artillery, 12th Armored Hellcat Division; was a liaison officer to the Free French Army; retired as a major; spent two years in army hospitals; established an independent insurance agency in Framingham, Mass.; founding partner of Chandler, Hoover and Giles Insurance Agency in Newton Centre, Mass.

Passions: Reading, history.

Awards: Received the Purple Heart.

Degrees: U.S. Army Officers Candidate School; Babson College; Harvard College Class of 1942.

Death: October 28, 2006.
