Joseph Corcoran Dare, a Miami real estate attorney and avid sailor, died April 15, the Miami Herald reported. Dare served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962 as an ensign and lieutenant junior grade after graduating from Dartmouth College. With an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a J.D. from the University of Miami Law School, real estate was his profession, but his real passion was sailing the Daredevil with family and friends on Biscayne Bay. Known to his friends as “the old sailor,” Dare was described by life-long friends Bob and Pat Lau as “bright" and "loyal," with a great sense of humor. "He had a way about him that made everyone happy,” they said.
