Lloyd Blankfein

Name: Lloyd Blankfein, CEO, Chairman, Goldman-Sachs Group Age: 53 Homebase: New York City
Precis: The president of arguably the biggest bank on Wall Street, Lloyd Blankfein commands a tight ship, keeping Goldman-Sachs more than just afloat in a time of rescission.
Work in Progress: Despite the un-Bear-able credit crunch that has many CEOs, bankers, and investors, dreading that at any moment they might have to trade in their Beemers and Benzs for Hyundais and Hondas, Lloyd Blankfein and the Goldman Sachs crew have mystified market players once again. When their quarterly report was released this past week, analysts gave Goldman an estimated earning per share (EPS = profit / number of shares outstanding) of just 3.42, an estimated $8.74 billion in profit. Goldman reported an EPS of almost five, a quarterly profit $9.42 billion. It's accepted that all banks are and will be effected by the credit crisis, but the graphs show Goldman trouncing its struggling competitors.
Like father like son?: Wouldn’t you know it, his two sons also bleed crimson; his oldest graduated this past May, and his second oldest will be a junior in the fall.
